Michael has great depth in the workings of the financial world

Michael has great depth in the workings of the financial world, is an incisive observer, and an excellent writer.
This is a timely book and worthy of a read by anyone interesting in the dark implications of Central Bank interventions and the myriad financial shenanigans that make up today's landscape.

Yeah Nah

I need to start by saying that I respect Michael Lewitt and read his reports extensively.
I was disappointed with this book and admit that I didn't finish it - a rarity for me.
I was expecting an analytical, data driven narrative of how the World got to where it is now, the devolution of Central Banking policy and where things might go next, with clear strategies to protect one's wealth.
Instead I found the emotionally driven labels given to people like Obama et al off-putting and unprofessional. To the point where I stopped reading the book came across as a rant against what has become of US society and politics - which is fine but maybe a better forum is a free online blog and not a book that I have paid good money for.
I may have put the book down too early but as a non-US citizen or resident and full time investor it held little of worth for me. I hope his next book is more content driven and less partisan/ emotional.

The most important financial book of 2016

The subject matter here is sophisticated but Michael Lewitt has a gift for laying out abstract stuff (think derivatives and interest rate policy) in a meaningful and even entertaining way. The man has style... and a monster intellect. I'd call this a must-read for any person who earns, spends, saves, or invests money today. In other words, yeah, you.
I finished this book with the feeling that I'd just watched a really good disaster movie. (The detailed metaphors comparing credit derivatives to monsters and dinosaurs probably didn't hurt.) The difference was that this nightmare is real - Lewitt offers detailed research, data, and years of analytical experience to back up his claims that we're headed straight for a $200 trillion "Super Crash." (While I can't say there's like to be a happy ending, he does provide detailed policy change recommendations that could help change our course, plus an invaluable chapter on portfolio allocation and protection in case the worst does happen.) It's an entertaining, invaluable - and frankly, scary - read.
