Poetry and full-color art transform personal thoughts into wonderment. Drago’s debut poetry collection opens with a bang: A homeless man dies on the street, and no one cares. Passersby step over him, assuming he’s sleeping. Accompanied by artwork depicting a dark, almost post-apocalyptic cityscape, the poem becomes a moving elegy not just to the dead man, but to the slow death of the world he left. The narrator eulogizes him with a simple phrase: “His existence is a lesson of their greatest fear / Yet what he has learned they will never know.” A sophisticated interplay of religion and science accompanies more traditional examinations of loneliness, despair, hope and love. While the subject matter may be familiar, the delivery is original and startling, fluid in execution, mesmerizing. The broad scope of the author’s source material doesn’t diminish the collection’s intimacy. A poem about suicide that reads almost like an old French song neatly precedes a bittersweet piece about surrendering youth while longing for one’s childhood home. Drago’s gift is her ability to find the intimate, the human in each experience, whether she’s describing the sounds of a house at night, the lives of a redwood and a weeping willow, the longing for a lover or a lone explorer who does not realize his adventures could spell death for others. The poems in this collection sing with life and vitality. The fluid, evanescent, often elegiac verse shares space with an extraordinary collection of visual images in full color, ranging from landscapes filled with unexpected light, to roads to nowhere, to one particularly transfixing image of wiry tendrils linking an outstretched hand to an upraised, blank face. About the Author
Antoinette (Toni) Drago, displays a broadly diversified set of talents as a poet, painter, writer, musician, singer, songwriter, playwright, and professional actor. She is a member of the Screen Actors Guild and has written and performed songs in movies and on television and is a member of BMI as well several arts associations. She often integrates these skills in entrancing mixed media expressions showcasing her creativity and love for the Arts and Sciences. With a profound ability to communicate through art subjectively and spiritually, Drago’s wide-ranging interests in subjects as esoteric as the Renaissance and Theoretical Physics bloom in her paintings and poetic tributes to the power of science, the essential nature of spirit, humanity and philosophy. Drago has recently returned to her roots working as a professional singer, musician and painter in the resort beach community she had also enjoyed as a child in the Florida Panhandle. She spent more than 20 years in Los Angeles working steadily in the arts and as a freelance writer for newspaper and various other forms of media. She has been recognized for her “unbridled humor and joy” on the stage with a London-born Broadway director, by the Los Angeles Times, LA Daily News, Hollywood Reporter, Variety, Major University Publications and many other media including a guest interview on NPR in 1992. Years later she would pick up a paintbrush again and receive media attention as an artist. Beautiful and Haunting

This book interested me a great deal due to the book's content. I have always enjoyed experiencing one person's insights through two different mediums. Let me begin by saying that the art work is captivating. I have a newfound appreciation for the artists viewpoint. Her use of light as well as color and movement is lovely and moving. However, the visuals pale when confronted with her poetry. I was able to take the book and read it cover to cover one quiet day on my back patio. I'm not certain if being surrounded by the combined sounds of nature and our city were the reason, but I found myself completely engrosed in the author's verse. This work is emotional and true. There is a surprising beauty in the raw quality of much of the poetry. I would reccomend this to anyone.

An intimate view inside

I've known the author Tony for years and this book of creation both literary and visually is an authentic piece of enlightenment. I asked Tony what the best state of mind is to read her book. Her answer: I think the best state of mind to read it, would be when there are no distractions and in a peacefull environment without interuption. I hope its powerful enough to put people into a frame of mind...but the key to enjoying anything is to first be open and vulnerable to it. The last painting is my favorite...I wrote out over 2000 decimal places of Pi and the top formula is the Heizenberg Principle, the second one below is Einstein's theory of relativity, then there is The Feynman Diagram for (QED)Quantum Electrodynamics. The composition of the paintings follows the Feynman Diagram and that was a happy accident.

So, open your mind and heart and enjoy a good read.

This book is a must-read! Amazing!

This book is a must-read. The artwork and poetry are beautiful. Having never been too interested in poetry, I surprised myself at how hard this book was to put down. I really enjoy how much raw emotion is contained in the book. So many of the poems can be applied to your own life, and I found myself thinking about the poetry while on a run even days later. Reading it made me take a step back from my hectic life and just breathe. It's true and provides a unique perspective on life, opening your eyes to things you may have never even considered or felt. I'm keeping it on my coffee table so I can reread some of my favorite poems, and so visitors can have a chance to read it.

The uncomfortable truth about Architecture

Real stories about dating in Japan

I was always interested in intercultural dating but it's rather difficult finding real stories about it..
This book gives a good insight for those who are interested in this topic (or especially dating in Japan)
I have to say I expected pretty similiar stories - but each story was so different from the one before
I can say there are also some surprising parts in each story ;)
Also I liked that after every story Yuta analyzes each story on his own view, and explaining cultural misunderstandings
Because cultural misunderstandings happen all the time and it's interesting to see how these couples deal with it
that's what I was the most interested in :)

Not just for dating.

I very much enjoyed "There's Something I Want to Tell You." While it is about dating, I think anyone that wants to understand the Japanese mind better could benefit. Even if not, it's a lot of fun to hear these real couples talk about real problems. Dating across cultures must be difficult, but dating a Japanese person, doubly so. There are so many minefields for the couples interviewed for this book, I'm surprised any worked out!

Being a bit obsessed with Japanese culture, I knew the Japanese had a rule for just about everything, and it seems that dating and relationships are no different. The trouble with these couples seems to start when the non-Japanese are vague in what the relationship actually is, or acts based on their own culture and not the Japanese culture. One rule is to define the boyfriend/girlfriend thing. I found this a bit ironic. The Japanese can seem so terribly vague to an outsider, but vagueness in a relationship? Forget it! Then comes the "kokuhaku", or the confession of love. While once in a relationship, the Japanese don't seem big on saying "I love you" to their partners, but the "confession of love" is the beginning rule of a relationship for most Japanese. Or so I grasped from these pages.

The part of the book I loved the most is Mr. Aoki's discussions, on a cultural level, of why each relationship had trouble or was eventually successful. I wish this part had been more in-depth so that I could understand my Japanese friends a bit better. There are so many vague verbal and non-verbal cues (at least to this American) in Japanese culture, that I sometimes find myself flustered or confused when interacting with Japanese friends. One American woman in the book called her ability to understand these cues in her Japanese husband her "automatic translator." So it's not just me then? Good to know! Perhaps Mr. Aoki's next book should be an "automatic translator guide to the Japanese." ;)

If the "Discussions" sections of the book had been more in-depth, I would have easily given it 5 stars. I would have also liked to have seen the experience of an older couple (most in the book, I gathered, are in their 20s and 30s). But please understand, that's based on what I wanted to know, and not necessarily within purview of the book. And if you are foreigner in a new relationship with a Japanese person, you really need to read this before it's too late.

Not what I expected

I expected much more from this book. Concretely, more on insights about Japanese culture in dating. It offers many great but general love stories, and with that it could be easily named "Dating in any country". Book has to contain more cultural insights about dating and marriage in Japan and in general more much more insights about Japanese culture. If you are looking for something really insightful, practical on dating in Japan, check the Jonathan Richards' book "Understanding Japanese women". Overall, I give 2 stars to this book because it's very well written and if you love love stories in general yoh might enjoy it.

Great read to improve sales skills

I make a ton of cold calls everyday and Wayshak's technique on prospecting completely changed the way I look at my job. I like how he lays out specific questions to ask prospects and his opening play concept is something that I now use all the time. A must-read for sales people.

As a Vice President of Sales and Operations for one of the nation's largest home health providers, I am always searching for materials that will enhance our ability to meet and exceed our customer's needs. Game Plan Selling is a must read for any executive leading a sales organization. Marc 'uncomplicates' the sales process. The book provides a dozen gems of information that any person in your organization can take and run with. Its simple to understand and just as easy to implement. The message the book brings to life, has personally helped me identify and close a large deal for my organization. I have read a hundred business books on motivation, sales, all of the 'how to' books, and Game Plan Selling is among the very best. Frankly, because it works. I have seen results within a month of reading it. Read it and follow it. You will not be disappointed.

If you are new to Sales or are an experienced pro, this book will give you a Plan to Succeed.

Check out Chapter 3 of this book "The 31 Most Common Struggles in Sales" This chapter alone is worth the price of the book. If you are not experiencing one of these challenges than you are either not being honest with yourself or you are already in the top 5% of your profession. If you are in the top 5%, congratulations, if you are not in the top 5% than this will certainly give you a plan to achieve that status.

Sales is a profession and many "suspect" prospects treat us like we are not deserving of their time before we speak. Marc will show you how to determine if the "suspect" is deserving of our time. He shows us that disqualification is crucial for serious sales growth.

Good book: A piece of history for aquascapers everywhere.

The content is very good, showing the history of Takashi Amano, and how he became the iconic Aquascaper behind ADA.
The reason I did not give 5 stars was because I think the book fell short in terms of quality and design.
Typically ADA is known for their good graphic design and print quality in their catalogs. This one was sub-par, but still a great book.

I would certainly recommend the book to anyone with an interest in planted aquariums.

A beautiful book to complete your Amano collection. Very high quality paper and printing, it differs from other Amano books by being printed on matte instead of gloss.

Inside the book is a brief biography as well as photos and descriptions of things which inspired him to create the nature aquarium concept. It also contains sections detailing his most famous works.

A must have for any Amano fan.

Just got my copy today. The book is wonderful indeed, and I'm sure any aquarist will love owning a copy. I just wish the paper was glossy; such amazing photos deserve heavy/glossy paper. This is the only minor thing that bugged me, so it still gets 5 stars.
