Great for an introduction, but lacking depth

Having spent several days on YouTube delving into mind mapping, sketchnoting and other related topics, I was SO excited to get this book. There is absolutely nothing wrong with this book. The layout is great. The content is solid. But for me, personally, I was disappointed in that what was in there I had already seen through my time-intensive-but-free journey through the bowels of YouTube. So, if your time is more valuable than your $$$, I definitely recommend starting with this book. You will not be disappointed. But if $$$ are tight and time more abundant, save your hard-earned cash and bounce around YouTube.

An excellent visual thinking application book

In this book, the author stretches the traditional boundary of mindmapping as created by Tony Buzan in his many proprietary "Mindmapping" books since the mid-70s.
The author breaks some traditional "Mindmapping" rules in the process, which she now calls "Mindscaping." This enables the reader to exercise the untapped and unlimited potential of the mind to create new working maps in the process of learning and thinking.
I find Tony Buzan somewhat structured in his proprietary approach, and it is good that Nancy has done an excellent job to take a refreshing and "out-of-the-box" approach to traditional mindmapping. This gives much more meaning to the mindmapping process as it should be in the first place, and now makes it much easier to learn and apply in the real world.
For beginners, Nancy's book is also a great help as she shows how to do simple iconic pictures.
For more interesting ideas, I would recommend readers to buy and read Milli S!onnenman's Beyond Words, which showcases some business applications.
Kathy Mason's Going Beyond Words and David Hyerle's Visual Tools for Constructing Knowledge are also worth pursuing, especially if you are in the teaching/academic environment.
I understand that the author is coming up with an expanded version for business applications. Watch out for it at Amazon.com.

Essential Book for Mind Mapping

If you do Mind Mapping, Mindscaping or any manner of Visual Recording I highly recommend this book. It is detailed, well-written, easy to follow, and loaded, absolutely loaded, with immediately useful insights and know-how that will propel your Mind Mapping skills to new levels. I have all my students use this book and I frequently refer to it myself. One point I particularly appreciate are all the mindscaping templates that she provides. I find these are great for students new to mindscaping as well as for folks who are more advanced. This book will allow you to more fully partake of the feast of discovery available through mapping your inner space.
