About the Author
David Herres is the owner and operator of a residential and commercial construction company. He obtained a Journeyman Electrician’s License in 1975, and has certificates in welding and wetland delineation, along with experience with elevators. Beginning in 2001, Mr. Herres has focused primarily on electrical work, upgrading his license to Master status. He is the author of two McGraw-Hill Professional titles, The 2011 National Electrical Code: Chapter-by-Chapter and Troubleshooting and Repairing Commercial Electrical Equipment, to be published in July, 2013.

Great Learning Resource and Reference

Competent, reliable electricians are hard to come by where I live (almost as hard as good plumbers); jobs in both trades ought to be easy to find and create for the person with the proper training. This book fits the bill for aspiring electricians waiting to serve the public need, and that need has never been greater than it is today.
Ironically, I called several electricians just before I wrote this review, because I would like to have a generator installed that will power my entire home the next time the electric utility power fails. The way things are going this winter, I figure on having at least a half dozen extended power failures, if not more. It was hard to find an electrician who wanted to take on the job! I did finally find one, but it took several phone calls to do it.
Demand exceeds supply in this field.
Buy this book, train yourself, learn all about the electrician's trade, and then please, please, please come on out to the Black Hills of Dakota Territory and set up shop. You're sure to get rich in a hurry as long as you show up on time and do the work right!
I found this book informative for my personal use, even though I am not a licensed electrician and don't plan to become one. I like to do small jobs with my own home wiring, but of course I want to do things according to code, and I want to stay alive so as to reap the rewards of my labors. The book is well organized and I had an easy time finding all the information I needed.
Highly recommended, especially for (as the cover says) aspiring electricians!

Great learning material

This book has a strong focus on the National Electrical Code. The use of quizes at the end of each chapter and a practice exam make learning the material a breeze. Fortunately, answers to the quizzes are also contained in the book.
The book covers all aspects of the electronics trade, including recent developments like PVs and wind turbines.
If you are studying for the National Electrical Code, then this is a very useful book to have.

The Kindle Version has problems.

The "Kindle book" is a mess. The only thing I can figure out about it is that the procedure from converting the book to the Kindle format went failed. Tables called out in the next are absent, there is no linear narrative to the chapters, etc.
